Historical Romanian Music Band Partizan Photographed by Mark Wilman

Historical Romanian Music Band 'Partizan'

Mark photographing Partizan

Razvan Moldovan, Adrian Plesca, Augustin Nicolae and Andrei Barbulescu of the historical Romanian music group Partizan photographed by Mark Wilman.

Razvan and Adrian were original members of the earlier band Timpuri Noi, a subversive act during the Ceausescu period.

In the early nineties, until around 1995, Timpuri Noi was arguably the top Romanian music group. Around the time, they had the opportunity to be the opening performers for rather prestigious (although musically different) foreign bands during concerts in Bucharest: Ian Gillan and Uriah Heep in 1992, Scorpions in 1993, Saxon, Paradise Lost and Jethro Tull in 1994, Iron Maiden and Kreator in 1995, Eros Ramazzotti, Joe Cocker and Rod Stewart later in the same year.

Impressions of Bucharest

A wonderful day spent touring old Bucharest. My favourite cloud and blue sky components helped make the photography exciting.

Model Photography in Old Bucharest

A beautiful Saturday morning on the 1st April saw the start of our photography in Old Bucharest with Roxana posing in her new hat and heels, the latter driving her mad at times, hence more guarded leg positions here and there. In my mind, it's about the female form being as she is naturally, so no reason to find fault with the results.

Photographic Excursions in Bucharest

Roxana and I have started photographic excursions in Bucharest and are very enthusiastic about this. There's a lot to discover and we've created an interesting itinerary that weaves visitors through the city's historical past. We'll soon be starting a photo project with Roxana modelling and look forward to it very much.
See our Photographic Excursions in Bucharest page for details.

Back to Milan

Just a week ago, I was in Milan for three days after an absence of a year and a half. Yes, I missed EXPO. What a pleasure to be back, and how warm and friendly were the Milanese. A few notable changes to my personal memories: a well established bar in Via Dante has become a highly attractive Enoteca or Wine Shop, the original Fiera or Trade Fair has sprouted a huge mushroom type structure yet to be completed, and these days entry to the Duomo is by payment though this is only €2 and understandable considering the constant work on the facade.

Ancient Church

With enthusiasm, I stopped above Agia Theodoti to have something to take back.

Decided I'd get there, the church in the thorns high above the reservoir behind Milopitas bay. Along the way a stop to photograph Agia Theodoti, my passion, then on to Psathi, or high above the bay, but the results aren't as good as I'd hoped, excessive light difficult to work with. So, on towards the church below the road in the thick of Ios' harshest vegetation, I know it by now at a glance. A cement mixer truck in front, then behind, then in front again because of my stops, reminding me of the film Duel, the 1971 film by Spielberg with Denis Weaver, fortunately this truck driver was easy going.

Out I get at the area conveniently made for parking close by, but surely [...]

10 Kg and Gentle Persuasion ( in April )

My first dive of the year. Friend Gigi had been asking when but the weather was too unfriendly to think about it. Sunshine and flat sea changed that view. So off I went yesterday 14th April to where I know it feels right. Parked almost on the beach and prepared. Not a soul in sight in that wonderful place. Would the mirror mask 'work' properly, i.e. not let water in like it did last time? Was it a hole or a moustache the problem? The 5mm wetsuit ten years old now but hardly used felt perfect as I entered and the area of my face exposed never sensed cold though it would have been awful without the protective layer of Cressi. And off I went [...]
